Introduction
The Interuniversity Master in Forest Fires. Comprehensive Science and Management (MasterFUEGO), offered jointly by the Universitat Politècnica de València together with the Universitat de Lleida and the University of León, is a unique master's degree in Spain and Europe that trains professionals specializing in forest fires, both from public administrations and in companies.
Specialized training in Forest Fires is a priority need in the fight against climate change, since forest fires represent the greatest natural disturbance in the current climate emergency context. The master's degree especially complements the Forest Engineering and Natural Environment Degree courses and the Master's Degree in Forestry Engineering that are taught at the ETSIAMN of the UPV. The specific training offered by this master's degree responds to the growing demand for professionals trained specifically for the prevention and extinction of fires in Mediterranean conditions. The new European, national and Autonomous Community policies, strategies and programmes, in compliance with the European Green Pact, have led to a very significant increase in the budget allocations of the different public administrations, but also of companies in the sector, which It is resulting in a significant increase in jobs in prevention tasks, but also in extinction.
